Best Hostel In Jerusalem

Best Hostel In Jerusalem – I recently had the pleasure of staying at the excellent Abraham Hostel in Jerusalem, Israel. Having stayed in many hostels over the years, it is my duty to let you know that this is one of my favorites – this place rocks! In fact, don’t even think about visiting Jerusalem without staying here. My highlights are too many in one post, but here are a few reasons why Hostel Abraham is great. I focus on 20 reasons…

Not only is there free Wi-Fi in every room, it’s fast! This is amazing for a hostel. In fact, in my travels, this is the fastest WiFi I’ve ever experienced in a dorm room. A travel blogger’s paradise on the go. I go out more than 10 hours a day because I do a lot at night.

Not all hostels offer free breakfast these days, but Hostel Abraham does! A complimentary continental breakfast is served daily from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM on the first floor. Make sure you wash your dishes after eating.

The staff is the best. I joined ETL on pub crawls, talked backpacking stories with Yoni, toured Palestine with Andy and helped out in the kitchen with that chef. The staff not only make you feel at home but also become friends when you stay here at Hostel Abraham. Don’t forget to make as many friends as possible.

If you’ve read my stories about pub crawls in cities like London, Christchurch and Buenos Aires, get ready for a pub crawl in Jerusalem. This is crazy! Put it on Thirsty Thursday soon!

I love the whole idea of meeting people in kitchens and dining rooms. But I don’t like it when you bother people. Fortunately Abraham Hostel is big so we all got separated. Have breakfast and eat and chat with others. The same goes for lunch, dinner, etc. at any time of the day. It was at the restaurant that I met my travel companion Luke.

What can I say, Hostel Abraham has a bar on the first floor and you get a welcome drink when you arrive! Amazing! I chose Beer Beer. It reminds me of the nice Amis guest house in Suriname a few years ago.

Every Thursday night, travelers gather in the hall and tell crazy bag stories!! It’s a chance to share your journey, meet cool people and get free drinks! I got a free shot to tell my story about feeding hyenas in Ethiopia.

Every Thursday night – tell a backpacker story at Abraham Hostel – meet cool people and get a free shot!

I wanted a hostel with a bar to boot. Even better – let it be happy hour. The best time to pour is during happy hour from 6-8pm. The bar opens in the morning with juice and coffee.

Abraham Hostel runs its own tours – the amazing Abraham Tours. These tours are just the best – Israel and Palestine are wonderful places to visit. Check out my posts here to see how much I enjoyed the tours:

There is no violence. Clean Rooms Someone who doesn’t care much about clean rooms, this time I want to walk in the door and see how clean the bed is, the floor is clean, and the bathroom is clean. Amazing!

Hostel Abraham has its own cocktail – the famous Masada Sunrise. It will make your lips tingle – but after seeing the sunrise over Masada that day – you’ll feel like you didn’t get it otherwise.

Yes – they have one. You have to pay, but back then even Jesus and Moses had to use their hands to wash their clothes. Insert your money and press the button and make the machine work. Of course, so are the dryers

It’s only a minute’s walk from the tram stop and not far from the main train station, plus it’s on a prominent corner so you don’t miss it. It is also close to Judea’s monthly market.

Besides being squeaky clean, the rooms are spacious and comfortable! We have two rooms with bathroom and kitchen.

The lounge on the first floor of Hostel Abraham has a ‘lazy dormitory’ – a great place to relax and unwind when you want to go to your room!

Hostel Abraham has many functions. There is something different every night and day, so there is an endless list of things to do.

As I mentioned there is a large kitchen – in and out of the kitchen is the best time for a meal night. One day we enjoyed Shakshuka for lunch with Orr’s head chef and tourist Israel Ben. We also have a wonderful Friday night Shabbat dinner. A real celebration, see the photo below! You can see my previous posts about hummus in Ako and exploring Judea’s monthly market.

Best Places To Stay In Jerusalem

During the summer months, the roof terrace is a place to relax, unwind and watch the sunset with a view of Jerusalem.

As an added bonus and to please all their customers, Hostel Abraham has all these cool quotes in the hostel. I love the quote “Quit the job, start the journey” – so inspiring.

Here is my take on this interesting place – Abraham’s Hostel. At first I was only staying a few nights, but I liked the place so much that I stayed for 6 days, doing a lot of sightseeing with them and thoroughly enjoying myself. Easily the best hostel in Israel and probably in my top 5 hostels of all time. I can’t praise the place enough! If you go to Jerusalem, make sure you stay here!

Important Shabbat – Friday or Saturday Travel: Friday night through Saturday night is Shabbat. This means there is no public transport and many restaurants and shops are closed. It is easy to say that 90% of the city and the country is closed. Yes, you can still take a private taxi to the airport, but it will cost an arm and a leg. So if you can, don’t travel from Friday.

Visa: Most countries issue a visa on arrival. It is free. When you fly into the country, you will receive a little more paper like a visa, not a stamp. They do this because they know that if they go to Israel, they may have trouble entering another country.
