This is the only hotel with good infrastructure in Salinas. It’s completely dated and lacks the refinement you’d expect for such a price. In my opinion, they are taking advantage of the lack of competition in the city. The beach and pool are nothing more than that, and the F&B is even worse than that. Better to stay without all inclusive. This hotel needs to be renovated urgently because it looks outdated in every corner. Also the horrible noise of fans and air conditioning units can be clearly heard from the balcony, so we are not sure who ever thought to install air conditioning equipment in front of the hotel.

Ecuador Luxury Vacations
The only positive thing Inhave had to say about the hotel was that the staff were excellent. They are friendly, polite, witty (not all), they try to help. But other than that, I just don’t know how they got a 5 star rating. I was there after the carnival holidays, I expected it to be much less, but the hotel was quite full. So the pools are also full and you would expect them to clean them first, but the morning I went for a swim after they finished cleaning the water was dirty with hair and sand. I asked the pool attendant what happened and he didn’t know how to answer. The hotel has another pool that people are not allowed to use. It has a big “maintenance” sign to keep people away. I asked the manager and he couldn’t explain why we couldn’t use it. Then the bathroom is another story, the trash cans are very old, the coffee shop is now painted over and looks like it doesn’t belong in a 5 star hotel, we didn’t eat there because we found a good local restaurant nearby which is very nice. The hotel has an all-inclusive system that is mainly used by local residents. They don’t seem to care about the details I mentioned, but for international travelers like me, details matter.

The location is good because it is in front of the beach. There are 2 separate pools. The meals were excellent and the service excellent. All the staff were very nice and friendly. Special thanks to Jessenia and the manager for going out of their way to arrange transportation for us. This is greatly appreciated and shows that the hotel really does its best to accommodate guests.

Hotel Cocos, Salinas
I visited Salinas on November 30, 2018. I stayed at the Barcelo Hotel with relatives. First we went to the pool for drinks, then to the beach. At 16:00 we went to the room to change clothes and take a shower, to my surprise there was no hot water. This was reported to the reception in charge of Daniela Lainez (so she said) she said there was a problem with the electricity but I was the only one to complain but when we got back to the hotel everything was fine Good. We came back around 10 and there is still no hot water or air conditioning. I called the front desk and asked to be moved to another room and was told there were no rooms available (the hotel didn’t seem full). The next day, Daniela Lainez was in charge again and we complained again, she said she could give us another room, and we replied that we had stopped. It was a horrible experience dealing with Daniela, a very unprofessional, incompetent, inexperienced employee who should not be doing this kind of work. Hotel Barcelo should train its employees and avoid problems.

This hotel is all inclusive, even a minibar. Excellent service. Clean and comfortable nice pool and nice terrace. The food is good and it is a buffet. Good taste and variety. Good bed and bathroom.
