If you have not heard of the island of Paros, it is time to pay attention. A true hidden gem of Greece, the island of Paros has everything you want to see and experience on a Greek island. It is incredibly charming, but still drowning in tourism. It has charming villages, beautiful beaches and excellent night clubs and restaurants. Getting there is very easy, you can take a short flight from Athens or a 45 minute ferry from Mykonos.

On Paros we stayed at the Parilio Hotel, a newly established member of Design Hotels. As soon as we entered the property, we realized why it is already one of the most popular properties on the island after such a short time. This beautiful boutique hotel has 33 suites built with its distinctive white block architecture that echoes the design of the island. Understated luxury is seen and felt through natural stone materials, a soothing color palette of white, grey, ocher and ivory, and an eclectic collection of vintage and contemporary furniture. We felt like we were living in a sanctuary surrounded by arches, concrete pillars and thick brick.

Our suite was spacious, airy and bright. We, the parents, have a super king size bed and the children have a comfortable sofa bed. Just as we were getting ready to go to the pool, the hotel staff brought us to our surprise a large basket of fresh fruit and afternoon tea. Just what we wanted!

We spent most of the afternoon in the large pool and in the sun on the deck chairs. Sometimes we will take a short walk to visit the famous Kolympithres beach. The sand there is perfectly soft and the water is incredibly warm. And above all, there are very few people. Today it is difficult to find such a place in Greece, especially in the high summer season.

Mister E, is not the name of one of the employees at Hotel Parillo, but the wonderful in-house restaurant. Every morning the friendly staff greeted us and gave us a delicious and fresh breakfast. Most of the dishes on the buffet are handmade in small batches, and we also ordered crepes, waffles and egg dishes from the breakfast menu.

There is also a spa center on site. My wife and I also enjoyed two spa treatments (deep-tissue massages) using a blend of Asian-inspired essential oils. We felt super relaxed and rejuvenated.

Another thing we like about Hotel Parilio is that it is a haven for all guests, not only families like us, but also couples and creative people.

During our stay we also rented a car for a day to explore the island. We just called the hotel reception and they arranged the car rental. 30 minutes after the call, the employees of the rental company were in front of the hotel and handed over the keys (€45 a day). We had lunch in Lefkes, dinner in Nassau and explored some beaches. It is definitely worth visiting these beautiful places around the island.
