Best Places To Stay In Barossa Valley – Located in central South Australia and north of Adelaide, the Barossa Valley is known worldwide for its delicious wines. The rich soil, the beautiful warm days and the rainy winters are the best things about Australia, and these are exactly what I was looking for when I visited a few years ago!

I was surprised to learn that the Barossa Valley is not just about wine. Of course, the cellar doors were high on my trip, but I also made sure to explore the brewery, local markets and award-winning restaurants!

TOP TIP: When I travel I pack a picnic at every shop to take on my walks around the Barossa. It saved me time and money so I was able to squeeze more wineries into my day!

One road in the Barossa Valley that you must drive is the Seppeltsfield Road. Lined with palm trees, this five-mile stretch is home to some of the best food, wine and hotels in the entire valley, including Seppeltsfield Distillery, Two Hands Wines and Winery. .

One of the most popular stops along the way, and one of my favorites, is Seppeltsfield Winery! Seppeltsfield’s exterior is not only impressive, but the basement is a historic cellar of Centennial. Seppeltsfield is best known for its 100 year old wine, so this is the perfect place to try a wine made in the year you were born!

The Barossa may be famous for its delicious Australian wine, but it’s also known for its excellent local produce, and Maggie Beer Farm is the place to find the best! It took me ages to wander around the farm store, because there were so many different things to check out and so many free desserts!

If you’re short on time, I highly recommend planning your trip with a daily cooking show or book a cooking class that shows you how to make delicious meals using produce. local only!

The Barossa Heritage Trail is a 38km self-drive route that takes you through the towns of the Barossa Valley from Lyndoch, through Nuriootpa to Angaston. You can get a map from one of the tourist centers around town, but Australia is very good at road signs, so you shouldn’t have too much trouble finding your way!

Once you get to Angaston you can jump out of the car and stretch your legs along the Heritage Walk and learn a little about this small town as you go. There are over 30 different stops on this 2.5km walk, but you can choose which ones you want to see!

If I had time during my trip, I would have definitely joined one of these bike tours! Whether you choose to ride a traditional bike or want to jump on an electric bike, you can discover the joys of the countryside while enjoying some drinks and a delicious lunch!

If you don’t want to join the tour, you can also rent a bike from Barossa Bike Hire for $40 a day. Following the Barossa Heritage Trail is one of the most popular routes taken by cyclists and at 38km, it takes around four hours round trip (not including wineries). For shorter walks, try the beautiful Lavender Farm Loop or the Gomersal Loop, all of which can be found in this leaflet which can be picked up from any of the local visitor centres.

This fun experience is different from the quiet basements you’ll find in the city, and what a fun experience! Choose between a 4WD Turbo Subaru or a Mitsubishi rally car and navigate the track! You’ll need a driver’s license to do this, but don’t worry if you’re not sure, because there will be a professional driver sitting by your side to guide you every step of the way.

One of the best things about the Barossa Valley is that it’s only a day trip from Adelaide! Although there is no public transport connecting the Barossa to South Australia’s capital city, it is only an hour’s drive away. If you don’t have your own car, Adelaide car hire is easy to pay for this and can cost as little as $40 for 24 hours!

Another option for visiting the Barossa is a tour. THERE are a RANGE of tours from Adelaide to choose from, including groups, private tours and those that include a visit to the German village of Hahndorf.

For more convenience, you may want to consider a hop-on hop-off bus. If you’ve visited the Hunter Valley before, or other famous wine regions in Australia, you may be familiar with the purpose of these buses. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., buses will run a scheduled route that includes stops at Grant Burge Wine, Maggie Beer Farm, Bethany Wines, and the beautiful Lambert Estate.

Luxury apartments and charming Airbnbs are great places to stay in the heart of the area here. Para Cottage is part of Tanunda township. With a double bedroom, a fully equipped kitchen, a balcony and a beautiful garden view, this property has everything you need for a comfortable stay. And in Tanunda, there is the Barossa Edyll. This new Airbnb has large windows to enjoy the view of the countryside and a fireplace to use on those chilly evenings.
