Located on Italy’s beautiful Amalfi Coast, Praiano is Positano’s sleepy sister. Just 15 minutes by road from this bustling city, you will find the very peaceful village of Praiano. With only 2,000 inhabitants and far fewer tourists, you’ll find peace and quiet here even in the summer months.

Perched on a cliff, you can expect stunning sea views from almost anywhere in the city, even if you’re not on a small town beach. You can expect lots and lots of steps, so wear comfortable shoes!

The Ultimate Amalfi Coast Guide

We decided to do a private transfer from Naples. Our driver offered us 120 EUR for 3 people and 160 EUR for 4-5 people. They took us in a large air-conditioned van. The door-to-door service was very convenient, especially before the long train journey from Naples to Milan.

That said, a private transfer is not the cheapest way to get to Praiano. Instead, the Circumvesuviana train to Sorrento leaves from Naples Central Station every half hour in high season and slightly less in low season. The trip takes just over an hour and costs around 3 euros. Note that you may have to wait for a ticketed train as you cannot buy a ticket in advance.

Another option is to take the Campania Express for a few euros more, but with guaranteed seats that can be purchased in advance.

Once in Sorrento, there is a Sita bus that will take you to Praiano. Tickets cost between 10 and 12 euros and can be bought at local newsagents or at the Circumvesuviana station. The journey takes 45 minutes to an hour, depending on traffic.

Praiano, Italy, Where Every Day Is The Best Day Of Your Life

Che Bonta serves some of the best pizza we’ve had in our time in Italy. If you have a cake or a snack, you will have a great meal. The pizzas are great and reasonably priced, especially for the area. I personally love margarita and veggie pizza. It is located on the road to Bar de Solera and close to the popular beach club One Fire.

I wouldn’t recommend calzone style sandwiches. We got a few of them when the pizza oven broke one day and they were a little disappointed.

On the water, Trattoria da Armandino is one of my favorite restaurants in Praiano. Famous for its seafood, the food in the area is delicious and cheap. I recommend the linguini with mussels, the local seafood platter and the spaghetti squash.

Il Pirata is the perfect stop for a meal or a cocktail after a day on the water. Although it does not offer a sunset view, it is located on the water. The perfect stop after a long day in the sun! As with any restaurant in Praiano, it is always best to call ahead and make a reservation.

Kasai is one of the best restaurants in Praiano. This is a dish I unfortunately missed when I was in Praiano because I was under the weather. But my friends’ reviews were so good, I had to include them! Be sure to get the tuna tartare and the truffle burrata.

Bar de Sole is a local spot for cheap drinks and great sunset views. It is one of the best places in Praiano to experience the sunset, apart from the personal roof. Their negronis are cheap and strong at 7 euros.

Things to do in Praiano Take a boat trip to the Amalfi Coast (or the nearby island of Capri).

One of the best things to do in Praiano is to book a boat trip. This was one of the best things we wanted to do, but we got a lot of different price points. Here’s what I learned:

The 10 Best Cheap Hotels In Praiano

We booked our trip with La Boa. We paid €500 for a 4 hour cruise along the Amalfi coast on one of their nice boats. Boat captain, 4 passengers, soft drinks, beer and wine included. It was a perfect time for us and one of the best parts of our trip!

It would be a shame to visit Praiano and not at least another town on the Amalfi Coast. Since we only had a few days, we decided to take a day trip from Praiano to Positano. If we had more time, I would have liked to explore other less well-known areas of the coast.

Walking the Amalfi Coast is very easy, but it takes some time. There is a bus between Praiano and Positano several times a day for €1.20, but in high season you can expect a very crowded bus.

I recommend taking a water taxi if it’s in your budget. The return water taxi between the two cities takes less than 15 minutes and usually costs €50-80 for a group round trip. We booked ours through Sharks. Most boats have a capacity for 6 people, but some have a capacity for 8. For an easy trip to Praiano you can arrange a pick-up time in advance.

Best Hotels In Praiano, Italy For A Perfect Holiday!

One of our favorite times in Praiano was slowing down after two very busy weeks of travel. One way to do this was to enjoy the sunset on our private terrace every evening – along with the wine we picked up in Chianti earlier in the week.

I cannot recommend our airbnb enough. The price was reasonable for the area and the season, the location was perfect and the views were incredible.

Praiano is such a charming town and much quieter than its neighbors Positano and Amalfi. You won’t find so many souvenir shops etc. I recommend taking a moment to walk around and get lost. Remember, every step you fall down means you have to get back up!

Praiano has its own public beach – Marina di Praia. There are two swimming pools. One option is that you can afford a chair and an umbrella. In addition, there is a pool where you can easily spread your towel. You can expect both to be very busy during the day.

Best Things To Do In Praiano, Italy

If you’re an early riser, I recommend coming for an early morning swim. On the last morning in Praiano we arrived around 07:00 and we were the only ones there. It was such a magical experience!

I recently visited the Amalfi Coast for the first time and absolutely fell in love. In our initial research, we found Praiano to be a good alternative to the popular town of Positano. 30 minutes down the road this town is much quieter and you’ll also find cheaper accommodation options.
